I was in a level 10 of pain in my lower back for over a week. I had gone to my primary doctor to find out what was wrong and they prescribed me pain med’s. After a week of being in severe pain and on med’s I realized that a chiropractor could help me. I made an appointment with Dr. Joe at Good Vibrations and got an adjustment the same day. Within 24 hours my pain level had gone from terrible pain from a level 10 to a 5. I then went and got adjusted again the next day and my back pain is extremely better. I can’t thank him enough. He helped me so much and while the pain med’s just numbed the pain, it didn’t solve my problem like the adjustment have been. If you are in pain and suffering like I did I would highly recommend calling this practice and making an appointment.

I am an avid runner, so when I started getting numbness in my arms and hands I looked for a solution and thought a chiropractor would be a good possibility. I regularly saw a chiropractor out in North County for 15 years whom I loved; but when I moved to Downtown San Diego in 2009, I had to find a new chiropractor locally. I searched for about 3 years, tried out five chiropractors in my area before I found Dr. Joe at Good Vibrations. I really liked the way Dr. Joe adjusted me and loved his upbeat and happy personality which is why I chose to continue going to see him as opposed to all the rest. I like how Dr. Joe checks out my back once every three months with the scanner to show me how my back is doing and the progress I am making, and how “he takes the time” to talk to me about my health and my goals, encouraging me in a very positive fashion. He’s an exceptional listener. Also, the office is quite nice and all office staff are super friendly, always making you feel welcome with their smiling faces and positive words. And they are always quite good about working around your schedule; a big plus for me since my schedule can change on a dime. It would be a few months into my treatments with Dr. Joe that I got my first adjustment from his wife, Dr. Stacy. She rocks, too, adjusted me well and all with a positive and upbeat attitude, to include a hug. What I also like about Good Vibrations is that if Dr. Joe and Dr. Stacy go away for training or vacation or what have you, they ensure your ongoing care is not interrupted by having their friend/colleague, Dr. Steve, fill in while they are away. I have been adjusted by Dr. Steve and can attest that he is a fantastic chiropractor. It’s a win-win for anyone who goes to Good Vibrations. I highly recommend them!!!

Dr. Joe and his staff are outstanding. I’ve been seeing him for 10 months due to a back and neck out of alignment from years of carrier aviation in the Navy. It was so bad my right leg was numb and I could not work out. Dr. Joe has gotten me adjusted where I can perform all my normal physical activities. He also has adjusted me so I don’t have to take nexium anymore. Many of my friends and students are miserable with the bugs going around, snotting all over me, contaminating my stuff. Yesterday after work, I felt awful– shakin’ and achin,’ dead tired. I made a pot of tea, went to bed for a couple of hours, and woke up feeling great! Was it the flu shot? Never touch the stuff. I attribute it to my robust immune system, supported by regular adjustments by Dr. Joe Merlo; and my constant affirmation: I DO NOT GET THE FLU! Maybe YOU should be pickin’ up Good Vibrations Chiropractic!

I have such great things to say about this place, it may be hard to keep it short and sweet!!! First off, Dr. Joe and his staff are GREAT. I cannot say enough about them. Whenever my family walks in, we’re ALWAYS greeted with a friendly smile. Dr. Joe has taken the time to address all of our questions and/or concerns, which we have really appreciated. We never feel rushed at all, which is something that goes a long way in today’s fast-paced world.

Initially, we sought out chiropractic care for our 3 year old son, who was having issues with a dry, unproductive cough for a little over a year. After seeing numerous doctors, he was finally diagnosed with something called “cough-variant asthma,” and it was suggested that he be put on Singular, something I wasn’t too happy about. Prior to his “diagnosis,” we had tried so many different things (and I put, “diagnosis” in quotations because the doctor just said that his symptoms “sounded” like cough-variant asthma, not that it actually was, and that the only way to know was to put him on the medication to see if it helped). So if this medication worked, then we have our diagnosis. If it didn’t, we’d move ahead and try something else. However, I wasn’t up for treating our little boy like a guinea pig. I was optimistic that there was something out there, and after an exhausting year of trying everything from elimination diets, allergy testing (all tests showed he had ZERO allergies), allergy meds (just in case), homeopathic remedies, a trip to the gastroenterologist and the allergist – our last resort was chiropractic care. I was always very skeptical with alternative meds. Yes, I believed that they worked for others, but I had a hard time believing it’d work for us. At this point, my husband and I had the decision to either fill his prescription or try to see how chiropractic care could help him.

It’s been about 2 months since we’ve been seeing Dr. Joe and I think I can confidently say that I have seen amazing results that are no coincidence! After the first two adjustments (5 apart), I noticed significant improvement in his cough. We went two weeks (til his next scheduled adjustment) without using his inhaler, which was a triumph for us because he was currently using his inhaler every 2-3 days. After his 3rd adjustment, the coughing became more sporadic and the gaps between coughing went a lot longer, several hours, if that. After the 4th adjustment (this is when I began to see obviously noticeable results), he went three weeks without any coughing, except for the first day or so after the adjustment, but again, not enough to have to reach for his inhaler. We’re on his 5th adjustment, and he’s doing WONDERFUL. I am a believer in chiropractic care now, and my husband and I will continue to take our son here (I’m going as well; I’m 5 months pregnant now!) and I trust that we will continue seeing positive results, in more ways than one.

Dr. Joe is a wonderful person – he’s truly amazing. He’s very gentle (and I mean this!). I was terrified to get adjusted, especially around my neck area, but he talked to me about what we would do and reassured me of any fears I had, and I look forward to coming in now. Our son loves him, too! He asks to come back, and he’s always ready to give Dr. Joe a hug. We are very blessed to have found our prayers answered in a small, quaint clinic with an amazing chiropractor and a terrific staff. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!

September 25th, 2011 was the day we happen to attend the Adams Street Fair and as we were walking up to the fair, I specifically told my husband my soul purpose is to find a professional chiropractor that knows what he or she is doing and not a quack. In fact the first booth we visited was Good Vibrations Family Chiropractic and met with Elise and Caroline the ladies are amazing. Their energy was genuine and enthusiastic. My husband and I signed up that day. In late October of 2011 we had our first appointment and I found it interesting. I had some concerns because I really wanted and needed a better alternative for my physical and mental health. We met with Elise and she performed the electronic stress test and took a before picture. During the process she explained what she was doing and the purpose. Then we met with Doctor Joe Merlo and he came in to introduce himself and did a Q&A with us. He showed us our results of the test and explained in detail of all our stress points and what he can do for us. He was genuine and sincere about our concerns and made it easy to work with. We returned on November 21st 2011 to start our healing process 2 to 3 times a week. We were in so much pain from many stresses in our everyday lives which have taken control of our being. My husband and I are both diabetics and overweight. Before we started the program I was always in pain doing everyday chores because I couldn’t stand up straight, bend down to pick up things, and most importantly walk short or long distances and could not climb stairs. All that I could not do I gained so much weight and hating it all. How pathetic and shamed I was…”What happened to the energetic, vibrant and athletic person I was once?” I let life consume me and not taking any control of my well-being. I knew I had to find an intelligent, knowledgeable, competent professional doctor of chiropractic. Thank God, he answered my prayers. Doctor Joe has turned our life around, he is THE BOMB! He is such an incredible doctor of chiropractic and an AWESOME TEACHER! It has been 8 months and both my husband and I are becoming active in our lives and pleasantly happier without extreme pain. Our friends and families have told us that we look so much stronger and happier. We both see a major difference in our health and so does our primary doctor. Thank you so very much Doctor Joe you are a “God’s Blessing”. Here’s a reminder to ourselves and that is eat healthy, drink a lot of water, stretch before working out whatever it may be, and get at least 8 hours of sleep.

I signed up for chiropractic care when about 7 months pregnant with my first child.My back was constantly hurting and my hips felt out of whack. I had experienced chiropractic care within a managed care setting but never before had I gone to an independent chiropractor. I went to him instead of to my managed care chiropractor due to Dr. Joe’s expertise with treating pregnant women and babies/kids. I definitely do not regret my decision to outside of my HMO to be seen and treated. Good Vibrations is a unique establishment and I think that’s what keeps people coming back. While the trendy music and the post-treatment hugs may not be for everyone, I sure appreciate the positivity and always leave the office rejeuvenated in both body and soul. Dr. Joe is a genuinely good person and a talented healthcare provider who demonstrates both caring and professionalism. I highly recommend his services.

So far my experience at Good Vibrations has been great. Everyone is very nice, the attitude around the office is great and the atmosphere is very friendly. Every time that I had to change an appointment I had no trouble doing so and every time that I have a question Dr. Joe always takes the time to answer all my inquires.

I have never gone to another chiropractor and I don’t see why I should, Good Vibrations always leaves me with a smile on my face and (most importantly) my back feeling much better.

I should know: I’ve been adjusted by at least 25-30+ different chiropractors in my various moves around the country, and I have become very discriminating about what works to keep myself free from neck pain and also in my best health. One of my closest friends, who is also now himself a chiropractor, taught biochemistry at a chiropractic college and we routinely hung out with and got adjusted by other chiropractic faculty and students. Of all the chiropractors from whom I’ve received regular care, Dr Joe is clearly the best. I have been at his practice for about two years now, and I wouldn’t consider going anywhere else in San Diego (I did try others before I chose Dr. Joe). My daughter who is almost 10 now receives care there too, as do other kids from her elementary school. After I was there for awhile, I knew it was the kind of place where I could introduce my daughter to wellness care. She looks forward to going, and she says it helps her body feel better for her gymnastics and karate.

In addition to his excellent adjusting skills, Dr. Joe along with his wife and superb staff have created a genuinely warm and welcoming environment. Good Vibrations gives us an uplifting energy boost every time we’re there. I’m sorry for Natalie that she felt unhappy and didn’t like getting a hug – they’re always optional at Good Vibrations. In fact, I’ll take two. As for money, what I’ve spent there is certainly fair. It has been more than worth what I’ve received back in health and wellness benefits. I’ve been seeing Dr. Joe Merlo for about 5 years now, on and off … I ride horses and have taken up jumping so I want to be sure I’m fit and can handle the impact without causing damage to my spine. I have had back problems in the past and chiropractic had kept me ‘in the saddle’! The Entire Team at Good Vibrations is wonderful. The staff is courteous and kind and eager to get you in on time. Dr. Joe is phenomenal! His adjustments are always performed with high intention. I feel like I am the center of the universe when I am there. The office has a congruency and I get the sense they do not have “jobs” but vocations. I am in the service industry and I notice all the small details- this is a solid bunch. She’s highly intuitive about where in my body I especially need support and does focused supportive work that has provided me a lot of relief for my back and shoulders, in particular, that have really been stressed. International college student yacking away on their cell phone without paying attention to anything in front of him. WHAM… Rear End Collision!!! This dude hit my car going about 45 mph. Which did a huge number on my body, neck, shoulder that caught the safety belt, foot that braced itself against the back wall of the brake, knee that hit something, and blah blah blah.

I felt so rotten the first night that I could barely walk or sleep. I couldn’t wait to get into the chiropractor the next day. I looked through yelp’s reviews and found Dr. Joe listed.

Someone complained that they didn’t like the fact that he hugs his clients at the end of the session. Get over it! Hey, this is part of the healing process– people need more hugs! The office is such a peaceful and relaxing place to visit, perfectly Feng Shui’d where it feels like you are on vacation!

The front desk staff is great! I was particularly impressed to see that they all dressed up for Halloween in such cute outfits from Dr. Suess, and Dr. Joe dressed as a Skeleton, which was really funny! I’ve seen a number of chiropractors in the San Diego area, and Dr. Joe is definitely one of the best! No More Headaches! Before Good Vibrations I would have horrible headaches several times a week. I would continuously take over-the-counter medicine to “cure” my pain. After being adjusted on a regular basis I do not have many headaches at all and if I do I am able to use other healthier options to relieve the pain. Life Changing‎ Dr. Merlo and the staff at Good Vibrations are amazing!! Bringing my family, and my now 9 month old son has been life changing. We have been going for the past 2 months and the changes in my son and myself are wonderful. Before getting adjusted my son would not sleep very often, and had a lot of trouble eating. After the first adjustment he started sleeping 12 hours a night and eating on a regular schedule. He's weight has gone up and he is thriving! I’ve only been adjusted by Dr. Joe for about 2 months now but it didn’t even take that long to see the results from the great work that he does. I was not in much pain when I began visiting but I was hoping to improve my athletic abilities and help alleviate pain in my shins that would come from running too often. Baby Back Pain Gone After giving birth to my baby, my back tightened up so bad I could hardly walk or breathe. All the painkillers in the world couldn’t touch the pain. When we came home from the hospital, the pain was so severe I was literally crawling around on the floor. Even though it was a weekend, we called Dr. Joe and he paid me a house call right away. Wonderful Chiropractic for kids & pregnancy It wasn’t until my son started to visibly show signs of discomfort in his neck that I thought to contact them about being seen as a client. Amazing Family Chiropractor Dr. Merlo and the staff at Good Vibrations are amazing!! Bringing my family, and my now 9 month old son has been life changing. We have been going for the past 2 months and the changes in my son and myself are wonderful. Before getting adjusted my son would not sleep very often, and had a lot of trouble eating. After the first adjustment he started sleeping 12 hours a night and eating on a regular schedule. He’s weight has gone up and he is thriving! GERD is Gone!! My son suffered from GERD from the age of 3 months. He spit up non-stop for months. It was very difficult for him as well as my husband and me. He was constantly fussy because he was uncomfortable and could never feel satisfied after eating. We tried medications suggested by the pediatrician but we weren’t comfortable giving medication to a baby so young and they simply weren’t helpful.

Chiropractic Brings more flexibility to my life ! I came to Good Vibrations Chiropractic after living with back and neck pain (whiplash) from a fender bender for a over a year. At first I wasn’t sure what to expect from chiropractic adjustments but was willing to try anything after these nagging back/neck injuries.

Fresh, Urban San Diego Chiropractor! First off…the office looked completely different than I expected. It has a fresh urban-ish design. I loved that! The music was vibey and the garden is refreshing. Amazing Chiropractic Results! I first started seeing Dr. Joe Merlo at Good Vibrations Chiropractic because of a surfing injury in college that never completely healed. Over the years I had tried everything to get it to go away: the trainer at school, massage therapy, my regular doctor and even acupuncture (and I truly hate needles). Everything seemed to help a bit, but nothing got down to the root of the problem to make the pain go away for good. Every time I would go surfing the same muscle group in my neck would seize up and I would return to the beach defeated and have a stiff neck for a week or so….sometimes longer. It got to the point that I felt like not surfing might be the answer….but that was not the solution I was looking for. I met Joe through my business networking group and decided to give chiropractic a shot. I have been amazed at the results! Incredible Chiropractic Care! About 9 years ago I was diagnosed with a herniated disc & degenerative disc disease. I was in weekly Physical Therapy, taking 800 mg of Naprosyn daily and getting a series of 3 epidural injections annually. All of these measures provided little to no long lasting relief from the pain I was in. To compound this problem, I was in a major car accident about 3 1/2 years ago that left me with chronic pain in my upper back and neck. Chiropractic & My Healthy Pregnancy: I’m currently 8 months pregnant and have been experiencing quite a bit of discomfort, especially since I stand all day at work. Amazing Chiropractic Experience! I’ve only been adjusted by Dr. Joe for about a month now but it didn’t even take that long to see the results from the great work of this chiropractor. I was not in much pain when I began visiting Good Vibrations Chiropractic but I was hoping to improve my athletic abilities and help alleviate pain in my shins that would come from running often. My running times, which have not changed in about 4 months, have improved by about 13 seconds per mile and I no longer have the shin pains. I’m finding that I have more energy throughout the day and have been better able to deal with stress that comes along in everyday situations.
