Consistency

Consistency

A great deal of attention is given to the body these days. Health clubs, equipped with weight trainers and pilates sessions are popping up all over. Yoga and martial arts lessons are increasingly available through private studios as well as community classes. At the same time, disease and obesity statistics continue to climb. We all want healthy and attractive bodies, but seem unable to achieve our goals. Once we join the gym, or sign up for that yoga class, we find out how it takes time & effort to keep up the practice, but is possible with practice.
Practice means just what it says. Practice is something that requires continuous repetition. It doesn’t just happen. Making it happen takes discipline, something we aspire to instill in our children, but sometimes forget to practice ourselves.
What if you regarded your body as a temple? How would you spend time in that place of worship? Just as the church, synagogue, or ashram represents community worship, our bodies are our personal temples. When we give them enough sleep, exercise, healthy food, and peaceful meditation we are more likely to be in harmony with our highest aspirations. Our body is our refuge and the medium though which our unique message can be channeled. The more we honor our bodies the better able they are to help us with our true work.
How you treat your body can reflect how you treat the world around you. Sweep out the cobwebs of negative thought. Wash the windows so light can shine through. Bring a positive thought to your mind, body & life. Wear clothes that make you feel good and remind you of your natural beauty. In that place of beauty & grace we are able to experience the blessings in our own lives and therefore the beauty of the world.
