The Music of Language
Words Are Energy
When we speak or write, we use the vehicles of words to carry meaning, as well as energy, from ourselves to another person or group of people. We may be speaking to our baby, our boss, or to an audience of 500 people. We may be writing a love letter, a work-related memo, or an entry in our own diary. Whatever the case, each word we speak or write has a life of its own, a vibratory signature that creates waves in the same way that a note of music creates waves. And like musical notes, our words live in communities of other words and change in relation to the words that surround them. When we are conscious of the energy behind our words, we become capable of making beautiful music in the world. If we are unconscious of the power of words, we run the risk of creating a noisy disturbance.
Some of us know this instinctively, while others come to this understanding slowly. Most of us, though, speak without thinking at least some of the time, blurting out our feelings and thoughts without much regard for the words we choose to express them. When we remind ourselves that our words have an impact on the world at the level of energy, we may find within ourselves the desire to be more aware of our use of language.
A fun way to increase our sensitivity to the power of words is to simply make a list of our favorite words and notice the energy they contain. We can write them down and post them where we can see them, or we can speak them aloud, feeling them reverberate in our bodies and in the air around us. This is like learning to consciously play an instrument that we have been playing unconsciously for most of our lives, and the effect can be startling and delightful. As we grow more comfortable and confident playing the instrument of language, we will begin to compose beautiful messages, creating positive energy every time we write or speak.

Finding Time For You
Within each of there is a well of energy that must be regularly replenished. When we act as if this well is bottomless, scheduling a long list of activities that fit like puzzle pieces into every minute of every day, it becomes depleted and we feel exhausted, disconnected, and weak. Refilling this well is a matter of finding time to focus on, nurture, and care for ourselves, or “you time.” Most of us are, at different times throughout the day, a spouse, a friend, a relative, an employee, a parent, or a volunteer, which means that down time, however relaxing in nature, is not necessarily “you time.” Though some people will inevitably look upon “you time” as being selfish, it is actually the polar opposite of selfishness. We can only excel where our outer world affairs are concerned when our own spiritual, physical, and intellectual needs are fulfilled.
Recognizing the importance of “you time” is far easier than finding a place for it in an active, multifaceted lifestyle, however. Even if you find a spot for it in your agenda, you may be dismayed to discover that your thoughts continuously stray into worldly territory. To make the most of “you time,” give yourself enough time on either side of the block of time you plan to spend on yourself to ensure that you do not feel rushed. Consider how you would like to pass the time, forgetting for the moment your obligations and embracing the notion of renewal. You may discover that you are energized by creative pursuits, guided meditation, relaxing activities during which your mind can wander, or modes of expression such as writing.
Even if you have achieved a functioning work-life balance, be sure to continuously strive to have a healthy lifestyle. “You time” prepares you for the next round of daily life, whether you are poised to immerse yourself in a professional project or chores around the home. It also affords you a unique opportunity to learn about yourself, your needs, and your tolerances in a concrete way. As unimportant as “you time” can sometimes seem, it truly is crucial to your wellbeing because it ensures that you are never left without the energy to give of yourself.

The Fountain of Youth
What ever happened to that magical feeling we had when we were young as we contemplated growing up and getting older that kids so beautifully demonstrates? At what age does getting older start to become something we no longer look forward to but begin to dread? Why do kids squeal with delight at their birthday parties when we tell them they really look older, but people run away crying if we tell them that as adults? Some people also wonder, “Why doesn’t everyone just take care of themselves and have fun?” What an awesome question! It is so awesome because people have expressed it knowing that as long as we take care of ourselves, our bodies will be there for us in whatever way we need them to be.
You may not know it but the Life Force inside your body is constantly being directed by your Innate Intelligence to replace your body as its cells and parts wear out. This is a continuous process and it’s happening simultaneously all over your body. Each and every cell, tissue and organ is replaced by a new one as necessary. Some tissues wear out more quickly than others and so they are turned over more rapidly. For example, you are making eight million new red blood cells every second. Think about how amazing that is – EIGHT MILLION EVERY SECOND! You are creating a new stomach and intestinal lining every three to five days, a new liver every six weeks, new lungs every six months and you literally replace every single atom in your body every thirteen months or so! And, you do all of this without ever thinking about it!
The key for continuing this renewal process is that you must have three very important things in your life. First, you must have a positive and deliberate focus. This ensures healthy emotions and healing biochemicals as a result of those positive emotions. The second is a healthy lifestyle that minimizes pollutants and poisons and supplies your cells with everything they need to follow your Innate Intelligence’s directives to continually make the new parts and effectively dispose of the old parts. This includes, breathing deeply, getting enough water, eating a diet rich in fresh fruits and veggies while limiting your calories to reduce the production of “free radicals” and minimize something called “oxidative stress,” getting a balance of movement and rest (including enough sleep), exercising, getting a good amount of sunlight, staying clean and maintaining balance within and between all of the different areas of your life.
The third thing is to maintain a clear neurological connection between your brain and your body. This is the pathway your Innate Intelligence uses to send and receive messages so that it can understand and respond to everything that is going on both internally and in your external environment. In order to maintain a clear brain-body connection, your spine must be aligned and functioning properly. This is why regular chiropractic care is so important to you being able to live a happy, healthy and vital life. It allows your Intelligent Life Force to be expressed fully and to continually recreate you anew!
So, search no more for that fountain of youth! Everything you need to be continuously young is right there inside of you! Decide to be a kid no matter how old the world says you are. And ask yourself this question – If you didn’t know how old you are, how old would you be?

Freeing Our Communication
Each of us has developed an internal filtering process that helps us choose which parts of our constant inner monologues get voiced outside of our heads. Sometimes the choice is based on what we consider to be polite or appropriate, using subtlety instead of directness to try to get our point across. Other times the choice is made based on our expectations of the other person and what we feel they should know about us, our feelings, and our needs. But our best chance of getting what we need is to communicate specifically by converting our inner voice to our outside voice.
This may seem unnecessary sometimes, especially when we think the other person has the same information we ourselves are working with, but we have to remember they also have their own inner voice, evaluating what they hear in light of their own issues and needs. With so much to consider and sift through, we are truly better off if we communicate precisely. Not only does doing this minimize the chance for misinterpretation, but voicing our thoughts it is an act of creation. We convert thought and imagination to sound, releasing it from the chamber of our minds into the outside world. This carries energy and intention with it, making our thoughts, wishes, and even dreams come true.
When we have the courage to speak our minds and use our voice to send the desires of our hearts from our inner world to the world outside, we take a bold step in making them happen. By removing fear of what others may think and expectation of what others should understand, we free ourselves and our thoughts from the bondage of the mental chamber and let loose our desires onto the canvas of the world. Next time we become aware that we have a choice about how to communicate, we can choose to use our outside voice and watch its creative power at work.
